iPod/Aux input on early S40

Hi there folks,

I have recently purchased my first Volvo, it's a 2005 S40 2.0 ltr Sport. So far I'm extremely happy with my purchase... She's a great yolk! (as we say in N.Ireland) :D

My only real issue has been with the audio system and the realisation that that earlier models do not come with a an audio jack or usb input for music listening from a mobile device/cellphone.

The system does have a factory fitted 6 disc CD changer so I've had to dig out my collection. Going back to 2005 in more ways than one...aways a good excuse to listen to some nu metal!!

I have done some research online to see if it would be possible to add my own aux input easily and the answer has not been too obvious....

I have also been considering installing a newer doner system (I think the 2007/08 models onwards have this as standard?), I wondered would this be possible as a straight up switch or would I have to reset/ reformat the system to make it compatable with my car...?

I have more or less ruled out the third party head unit option as the car's climate control and other functions are operated via the same system.... It could get messy.

I'm more than happy with the overall sound quality and would like to keep things original as I can... would just be great to get Spotify connected in there.

Many thanks in advance, it's a pleasure to be included in the Volvo enthusiast community.

Regards,

Alastair aka Mingus

I been thinking about adding an AUX port. I was looking at all sorts of options and then found this

I've only found it on ebay but it looks like it would do the job and not involve me taking my radio apart.
