volvo dolby surround sound
Hello can anyone help. I am replacing my stereo 901 with a DVD system. My problem is that the connector is a 6 pin din and the DVD speaker wires are loose. I have tried to buy a connector but no where sells them
I have the following wires attached to the din
purple
blue
green
grey
white
red
I know the grey wire is the low voltage positive. But i am unsure how to connect the loose wires to get my system to work. can anyone help!!!!
Regards Mike

From what I understand, the wires listed come from the aftermarket deck? From your other post I assume you are talking about a 2000 C70.
When installing most aftermaket decks, you should purchase a wiring harness and dash kit to make it all work with ease. Since it is a DVD system, I assume that it is a Double DIN which for that car, no kit is required.
The wiring harness will plug into the vehicles stock connector and all you have to do is match the wire colors.

The standards (at least for every deck Ive seen) for the colors listed are as follows
Purple - Right Rear Speaker
Green - Left Rear Speaker
Gray - Right Front Speaker
White - Left Front Speaker
Red - 12V
Blue - Power Antenna
Blue w/ white - Remote turn on (for aftermarket amps)
Orange - Illumination (it has been my experience that it is better to not use this since it has been known to burn out your dimmer switch)
If this isn't what you were asking/looking for, try explaining a bit more.

Thankyou for the repy and 'Happy New Year'
I have a volvo C70 2.4 GT 2000 with dolby digital surround sound with I think 11 speakers with an amplifier and electric aerial.
The unit I am replacing is a SC900. on the back of this unit there is 3 ISO connectors (one being the centre speaker and is a green connector) from the main ISO there is a
brown wire
red/black wire
yellow/purple wire
2 x black wire
green/brown wire
blue/white wire.
there are currently no adapter harnesses for this Dolby system.
the speakers are connected by a 6 pin din connector.
My new head has the main ISO connector with
speaker wires
white, green, grey, purple,
other wires
red (power)
yellow (battery)
black (ground)
brown
2 x cables with ISO connectors, yellow amp connection, black ground wire.
I have had to cut the 6 pin din and connect the speaker wires the grey wire is on the centre pin which i think is the power to the amp. (this connects to a yellow lead on the RCA cables).
I cannot use the ISO connection so the wires are being soldered together.
HOPE THIS MAKES SENSE!!!!
