black trim on 240DL
I just bought a 1989 DL for my daughter and I am in love with this car! The paint is in great shape, but, the black trim under the windows is scratched badly. It appears to be some sort of applique.
Any suggestions on getting this stuff off and replaced?

Well...it's a variety of tape. You can use a heat gun and plastic scraper or use a drill mounted eraser wheel. The latter is what body shops use to remove stripes prior to re-paints. Once removed, you may find you like it au naturel! If your car is a dark color however, the underlying paint may not be faded and you may want to re-do it. The simplest thing is to mask off and paint it w/ a high quality paint such as SEM Trim and Bumper black. It's a nice satin. and I've had good results with it.
