Turtle Wax "Ice" Is where it's at for the Detail and the Polish.

I agree with Austinnoah1, Turtlewax Ice is easy to put on, doesn't matter about over spray on glass or rubber, in fact, they encourage it. Do the whole car with it. Makes my car look brand new!

It's all I use, and I will never use anything else ever again. You can't buy it at the store and they don't advertise it. I last polished/waxed my s70 before summer started and it's still beading and repelling bugs. Same with my 300, I did that in May and it's still beading nicely in September.

If I want to do a quick job, I'll use the Insulator Wax. It's always good for at least 3-4 months easily if not longer.

I stated using the Concours wax last spring. The stuff just won't wear off, but it isn't the easiest stuff in the world to work with.

I'm not a detailing snob, but I won't waste my funds on any mass-market product.

Getting ready to claybar my 97 850R wagon and wax it with Meguiars White Wax. Will report back once I am done.

Just used The Turtle Wax Black Box Kit today for the first time on my S80. It looks great but here are a few things I found out while using it:

1. Both the pre-wax cleaner and the wax are impregnated with a black color. Use latex gloves when applying. The wax is EXTREMELY liquid. It gets everywhere. Watch your first pour- it's easy to spill all over your pants (I know).

2. When removing the pre-wax or wax, the instructions say to spray the supplied detailer before removing the wax. Don't. It just makes a mess. Remove the wax with a dry cloth and go over the area with the detailer (and a clean cloth) AFTER you remove the wax.

3. Be careful not to touch (tan) interior parts if you have any wax on your hands. It's a bear to get off.

Overall I am extremely pleased with the results. Probably one of the better finishes I've seen on a black car that I have detailed. I am going to try it with my polisher on my 95 850. The instructions claim that using an orbital polisher will make a difference on older surfaces. We'll see...

My favorite wax is Pinnacle Souveran Paste Wax. It creates the deepest shine that I have ever seen period. I have used many waxes in my day and this wax is the easiest to put on and take off. You don't have to let it dry to a haze, that's awesome if you ask me. It spreads out like butter and comes right off without struggle. Not to mention one 8 oz. jar will get anywhere from 30-40 applications, with a life span of 3 months, you do the math - it will last you several years :eek:

OK, not too many posts on this thread but I'm the "new" owner of a used '01 XC wagon, it's WHITE with black trim, I've owned 6 or 7 redblock 940/960s but NONE of them ever looked nice enough to even think about waxing. Think rolling tanks that saw lots of action, etc.

This car looks like it was made yesterday and I have almost zero skills in detailing other than what you'd expect.

Can anyone give me some recommendations on what/where to start? Obviously the exterior, but also I'd like good leather conditioner for the tan seats. I have a pitbull and a toddler, both 3.5 years old... so... they NEED it.

Watch some YouTube videos, but remember that everybody has an opinion. Just use what makes sense. On seats I like to do a good scrubbing with a soft brush and Simple Green before applying the conditioner. I happen to use AmorAll's product, but there are lots of decent options. Just give it some time to soak in and/or apply a 2nd coat for wiping off and buffing for shine.

I did do that, and man... I get a bit obsessive about my other hobbies and talents, guns, knives, tools, cars, woodworking, and culinary pursuits, but Jesus. I never knew there was so much about making a car shine that could be so controversial and in depth!!!

Makes a thread on AR-15 barrel length choice look tame in comparison!
I think I'll just wash the thing, and start slow. From what I learned white paint is very hard, so I'm guessing it could use a polish compound, then maybe follow up with wax. I went with Lexol leather cleaner and conditioner. I thought simple green, but my dog's assplosion in the car I think warrants the investment in something good. If that's what Bently uses, maybe it's cool-aid, but I'll risk drinking it.

I had a similar problem on my wife’s S60 and used Griot’s garage complete compound. Then I redid the car with Pinnacle Souverign. Looks great now. I plan on using AvalonKing Armor Shield IX ceramic coating that lasts 3-5 years as soon as the weather cools down. Hope it works for you.
