removing scuff mark?

Got a scuff on the paint at the car wash over the weekend. I think the brush they use toswab the bumpers has a wood or plastic housing, and that came into contact with the paint as the overzealous car wash kid was brushing the rear hatch. It's right above the bumper, in a horizontal line about 3 inches long. I think the edge of the brush scraped it when they swabbed the top of the bumper.

Yesterday afternoon I dug out some old liquid wax I had and tried to wax it out, with no success. It got better, but it's still there.

Does anyone have a recommendation on how to get rid of a deeper scuff mark? I read through these posts but didn't see anything specific. Thanks.

If I can't get something out with a cleaner/wax my next step is to use a polishing compound. Make sure it is very fine though. If your car has clearcoat you don't want to go through it. I have some stuff called scratch and swirl remover, but it does not seem to do much at all.

Thanks JimKW, I'll see if a polishing compound will do the trick.

I'm really ticked that the car wash employees are so careless, I can't be the first one this has happened to.... I don't know if it's the vaguaries of youth, or the me-first attitude that seems to be so prevalent any more, but when approached, the employees think it's funny and really could give a hoop about whether they do a good job or not, or whether they cause any damage or not [:@]

You can also order the paint pens from the dealership to cover it

Thanks jonnyboyca,

Have you had much luck with the paint pens?

The only times I've seen it usedthe endresult is awide thick streak of paint that looks like it was used to mask something.

Maybe it was not used the right way?
