2.5 T oil pan cracked.
2009 C70. Apparently my wife hit something and cracked the oil pan on one corner. Good thing is was less than 1 block from my house. Looks to be aluminum. Can it we welded in place? Or am I going have to replace it? :(

We just replace them, but you can try
|
What about some type of epoxy?
|
Or, what about braising the crack closed while the pan is still on the car? Oil is drained of course and I'll spray it clean with brake cleaner. Wait a few days for the fumes to get out of the engine. Trying to not take the pan off.
|
Again, you can try. I've seen various band aids. Never worked.

Well, after much thought on the cracked oil pan. I have decided to purchase a new one and replace it. Just ordered it from IPD. Skid plate will be next, just in case...

Get the skid plate ASAP, the oil pans are pretty expose, especially in the front. The front of the pan can be easily cracked if you barely hit a parking stop/block. IPD puts the skid plate on sale a couple of times during the year. |
See my post in Thread "IPD pan for sale for Volvo S40 2007", according to IPD's website it should fit your C70 2009, but best to check with them.
