Default BoV installation help

Listened to a friend of mine who said the turbo setup is identical to that of the SRT-4's and he attached the Mopar plate BoV. Let me just say that it was the worst idea to ever do. SOo much leakage that I stalled....ran sooo rich...and gauge was reading 0 under full throttle cause of sucha bad leak. Heres my question. Is it even possible to run a BoV in the S40 00-04 line? If so how does it need to be setup so I won't run into the same problem again. I have been told running a BoV with the bypass valve together for volvo but im not sure. Any help will be appreciate! Thanks! =)

Where the hell do you have it hooked up? Like where is the BOV actually hooked up to?

The Mopar plate BoV mounts in between the turbo and the bypass valve. MASS LEAKAGE lol. Im gonna get a different BoV i just wanna know how to properly hook one up to my car without causing the same problem. Does the bypass valve have to stay on or can I block it off?

The CBV can be blocked off. However the vaccum line that is running to it must be attached to the BOV.

So as long as its blocked off and the hose is attached to the bov i wont have any issues unless the BOV leaks? Awesome! I thought i would never have the chance of having the BoV on my car. Thanks very much for all your help. I just gotta get the bov i want now and be done with it all haha. Installing it now is gonna be a piece of cake.

Ok so from what I get from this is that you blanked your CBV off but didn't install a BOV. Am I correct?

Why I say that i sbecause you keep saying find the BOV you like.

I looked up this MOPAR BOV thingy and from what I can tell it isn't much.

Ok QBM has a CBV blanking plate for the 00-03 model s40's. So hopefully your in that range.

Your BOV should be placed as close to the throttle body as possibly. At least that is in the case of 98 and back models. I had my BOV mounted on my Upper Intercooler pipe. This is where I suggest you mount yours if your Upper IC pipe is Aluminum.

I think he should use a Universial BOV such as a TIAL or HKS SSQV not something made for another car.

The Mopar BoV was installed. However that type of BoV gets sandwhiched between the CBV and Turbo itself so the CBV never gets blanked off. It leaked very badly and thats why i was curious to the fact is it even possible for have one.

Yes it is possible to have one. Obviously this MOPAR BOV is made for MOPAR style cars. Not Volvo's.

Thusly your option is to buy a "UNIVERSIAL" BOV such as a TIAL or HKS SSQV and attach it somehow to your car. For example like I had mine attached to my Upper Intercooler Pipe, which was made of Aluminum and I was able to have an Aluminum flange welded onto the pipe to make the BOV work.

a bov is a bov. It dosn't matter what application you use it on as long as it is mounted correctly and doesn't leak.

A TiAL 50mm bov is overkill for stock turbo cars. If you want it, use the smallest spring, otherwise it won't be doing much except looking good.

The upper intercooler pipe is just a hose. It isn't alluminum sadly. Would this be an issue by adding the flange to the hose and clamping it together?? If so then i won't do it. Also the guy that installed the mopar for me said that because i have a MAF i cant run a BOV and the car itself will run "****ty" as he put it without an ECU reflash or upgrade. Is this true cause i dont believe that it is.

1. He is full of bull****.

2. You can run a BOV if you have a MAF. I was and it worked fine. However for the split second that the BOV went off I ran rich. Oh well. You can also run certain BOV's so that the air isn't vented to the atmosphere instead it is routed back into the intake track.

3. Is this "hose" you speak of plastic or rubber? If it is plastic don't do it. If it is rubber then you could try using a "T" adapter. What you do is cut the rubber hose and insert the "T" adapter into each end of the cut hose and clamp it down tight. Then install the BOV on the top of the "T" adapter and run a vaccum line to it. Do not run the CBV vaccum line to it unless you block your CBV with a CBV Blanking Plate. You will just have to find another vaccum source to run to the BOV.

*Oh and if your automatic you will only hear the BOV go off when you let off the gas. If your manual you will hear it go off during shifts.

So...

1. What BOV are you buying?

2. How are you hooking it up?

Either a Greddy or HKS. gonna get the flange and attach it onto the upper intercooler hose close to throttle body as I can. Then ill take my CBV hose and attach it to BOV and blank CBV off and that will be it =)
