HELP!! 960 est major brake problem HELP

I Have a 1992 960 3 litre auto estate, brakes have been failing and started to grind voilently which sounded like pads against disks, but on inspection pads and disks were ok.
this continued for a couple of weeks with smash loads of noise,, until THE DAY!!
suddenly[:-] something went BANG!!! [:@] warning light in the dash came up all grinding and noise disapeered straight after the BANG but the brakes lost all power!!! need help,, think may be servo or abs
but need suggestions before i hand over to mechanic and he trys it on

Do you have brakes now?

I had a 960 about a month ago that the rear E-brake shoes did the same thing. You will have to remove the REAR rotor to inspect the rear E-brake shoes.
