Rough start - 1984 242
Just replaced my starter a few weeks ago, and 2 days later I started having a tough or very tough time with a cold start. Once it is warm it seems to start fine or almost fine, but if it sits for 10 or 12 hours starting can take 2 or 3 cranks at 20, 30, 35 second each. Last time I tried priming the start (??) by twisting the key 2 clicks 2 times, I think they said this would help if it was a fuel pump issue. They tested the FP and said it was working fine. The engine seems to want to turn over, but it almost seems like it is not getting fuel?
Spark plugs, wires, and full service was done 8 or 9 months ago with my mechanic who I trust. They only work on Volvos. Battery is excellent. They adjusted my CO2 and told me to check back.
Scanning these forums, these seem to be the most common suggestions.
1. Clean throttle body
2. Clean IAC
3. Adjust throttle position switch
After these I have seen...
Fuel pump fuse
Coolant temp sensor
ect / ecu test?
throttle sensor
AMM
Are the top 3 the best way to go? Any suggestions? Thank you!!
