Default Weird posts

I've been extremely confused by the abundance of strange posts since signing up here. Loads of posters with 1-3 posts and strange advertising links in their signatures who post incoherent, random stuff. The thing that baffles me is that none of it gets deleted or anything, despite being obvious "bot" behavior.

Is the issue just a lack of moderators? If you need someone just to zap some of this stuff on occasion, I can help out despite being new here. I guess my thing is that forums appear run-down when there is spam floating around.

It's not a lack of MODS. It's a lack of action being taken by the MODS. And yes I am int he mix too so I am not singling others out I am singling myself out as well.

I see it all the time. I think the thought is they will post just a few times and then go away. But there will always be someone to take their place.

Sorry that you're dumbfounded with some posts.

I've been out of the forum since last November due to work-related stress +α and have not been able to take necessary actions as a moderator.

I'll try to be back soon and take care of each forum (except several model-specific forums, which I hardly ever visit due to lack of knowledge).

I'll move technical questions from New Members Area to their intended destination forums and if I find posts such as the ones you mention and delete & ban the IP.

Please allow me a bit more time until I can come back as often as I used to.

Sincerely,

Moderator JPN

I thinkn there are enough mods., but I think "life" hits at times... I know my schedule at work has demandedmore time away from "Volvo time". I try to log on my Blackberry and keep an eye out, but I also mod. 2 other sites... You try to get as much as you can. Just don't pay attention to the morons out there...

No need to apologize or anything! I'm a new member who is enjoying being on this forum. I just wanted to let you guys know about it if you didn't already.

Good luck getting the stress dealt with. Thats never fun.

I have been busy too.

The times I do get to come on, I am beat, and way to tired to pay attention.

guess it is time to step up my game.

I think the issue at least for me is the fact that they post nearly relevant topics. Especially in the off-topic forum. I am always hesitant to ban/ delete accounts. Usually I'll give a warning about links in sigs, if they don't respond either I delete the links through mod interface or ban the account altogether.
