94 850 non-turbo cold shift
I have a 94 850 non turbo and when the car is "cold", when it is put in drive, it doesn't want to shift out. If I drop it down one gear for about 2 or 3 seconds, then shift it back into "D", it shifts fine. When the car warms up, there is never a shifting problem. Any idea what this could be? I haven't had the car long, and had the tranny flushed right after I got it, but no change. Could it be the transmission filter, or the TPS, or what? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

Any codes in the engine and transmission?

RE: 94 850 non-turbo cold shift
No...no codes showing at all. After it is driven MAYBE 1/2 mile...it shifts just great...every time. The car has just under 100K on it, if you need to know about the mileage on it.

HMMM maybe a solenoid or something is hanging up.

RE: 94 850 non-turbo cold shift
So...what would you do...just drive it like it is, or have someone pull the tranny (eeeks)...or what?

RE: 94 850 non-turbo cold shift
I would drive it till it gets alot worse.
Mine is doing something almost the opposite. When I stop at a light or stop sign when hot it goes into Neutral till I hit the gas. I am letting it go till it dies. Hopefully when it goes I will swap it to a manual tranny car. |

OK....that's what I am going to do. THANKS A LOT for your input...has had me scratching my head for a while!!! It's a super nice car...with low miles...but the idea of starting to pull the tranny and dump a LOT more money into it....doesn't do it for me..ha! Thanks again!!!
