volvo 240 heater fan broke

The heater fan on my Volvo 240 is broke. When its really cold I turn it on and it just makes a loud noise. Any idea what it is or how to fix it? Does it sound like the blower motor?

Yep, and PITA job it is; gotta pull the dash; took me 8 hrs.
