You have a very nice sleeper. I don’t feel comfortable talking to freely on a public forum, so please PM me. Ive got to know what you’ve got under the hood. you hung with me for a few seconds, and thats a lot more than most other street cars can say. Im pretty sure my face looked something like this during that quick run.

Well I don’t know Volvos at all (there not exactly common at the track lol) so I can only give you guys some fairly basic observations.

I thought I saw a red ‘R’ on the right of the trunk. So I google’ed ‘Volvo R’ and was pointed in the direction of the S40R. BUT none of the Google images I see show the S40R as having a red ‘R’ on the trunk at all. The location of the red ‘R’ was right where most Volvos seam to say ‘T5’. Perhaps this owner re-badged his car? However most people who actually own a quick car don’t re-badge there cars with non-oem badges. So the ‘R’ thing has me really confused.

The tail lights were shaped the same as on a S40R, but if any other Volvo shares that styling than I cant narrow it down any more.

Also I’m sure it had duel exhaust.

I cant remember the color of the Volvo. I know that sounds weird but to be honest I was focusing quite a bit on my data logger. I had just rebuilt my motor (maybe 2,000 miles ago) and since the new pistons are slightly higher compression than stock I’ve been watching the data logger to make sure that the extra compression doesn’t cause any pre-detonation. Aka I was slightly distracted right before and after the race. I did notice though that this particular owner had EXTREMLY dark tint. When I got up next to the car before the pull I was not able to see in through the windows at all. I know this wont help you guys identify the model, but it might help describe a Volvo Forum member.

Also I don’t know if any Volvos come stock with light blue HIDs (could have easily been a owner mod I suppose) but this car had some decently bright blue headlights.

Based on my cars prev dyno results at a similar boost to what I was running that night I would say I was at ~400awhp and the Volvo was running ~350ish whp. I could not hear any bov from the Volvo, so im assuming it was equipped with a recirculating bov, or simply didn’t have one.

Also here is a few images of the R models.

These taken off of google of the S60R. There were no S40R's imported to the U.S.

Thanks! I was in my 740 wagon and had to get the icecream home before it melted, so I was pedalling pretty hard. Still had some left in it though.

Regards, Andrew.

I wish we'd gotten more of those cars down here, they weren't big sellers, they were quite expensive for some reason.
I've got a lot of time for Mitsubishi's V6 engines, I had a 6G72 in a wagon for years and we currently have a 6G74 in our Magna. The 6G72 had a great, broad torque curve, helped by the dual length intake. The 6G74 is just beautiful, mountains of midrange torque, super smooth and a beautiful sound.

Regards, Andrew.
