How can I fix wheel with mark
 

I have rims that are aluminum powder coated silver.

The other night as I was making turns in a parking lot, a car cut in front of me and I had to take the corner sharper than normal. I caught the curb and it made a two inch mark on the rim. It is a mark right at the lip where the tire meets the rim. I'm thinking that I could take a file and file it smooth and it may look better.

Maybe there is no way to dress out the rim after they are marred?

most rims are painted aluminum - you can use body filler and then prime/paint/clear coat, provided you can find the rim paint color to match. There's also wheel restoration shops who do the same if you want a professsional quote.

One thing my 2015 Outback Limited had were nice rims. They weren't pained but machined polished face. Where they Aluminum? Maybe but I've never been a fan of the painted aluminum rims. Our S60 had them but I can't remember if our V50 had them.

It is on my list to shop for some nicer rims. It is a want, not a need and far down the list.

most are aluminum or some alloy - depends on the model. Steel is pretty much reserved for winter wheels, spares and American cars :-) Unless you have a chrome or brushed metal rim, its painted silver which means standard body work tricks can be used.
