The cargo opening (width) of my '04 V70 is about an inch too narrow to fit a piece of 4' by 8' piece of plywood or sheetrock. Does anyone know what model(s) are wide enough to fit a 4X8 into the cargo area? (I know I can transport one on my roof racks. I just don't want to have to go through that trouble every time.)

4x8 in a 940/960 wagon will fit at an angle.

 

pretty sure I moved some sheet rock with my 850 wagon (again on an angle) as well. I've also used Home Depot's delivery service (a LOT easier when you are getting like 20 sheets !!)

 

I can confirm that you can fit a 4ft wide board in the trunk of even an 850 SEDAN as I made a platform/storage in my trunk out of 2x4s that was exactly 4ft wide and when I took the trunk seal off I was able to just slide in in place. the 8ft will be the tricky part!
