Oil consumption S40

Oil consumption S40
I drive a 2005 S40 that was diagnosed with oil consumption at 56,000 miles. My car does not have a Turbo engine. Presently, the dealership is replacing the engine under the extended warranty.
I followed the service plan outlined in the manual and had all work done at the same dealership. My dealership tells me I have impeccable service records. I can’t understand how this happened.
I want them to extend my warranty for the same amount of miles I had on the first engine (56,000). Volvo tells me they never extend a warranty beyond 100,000 miles. I am very upset and frustrated.
Has this happen to anyone else?

Yes, I have. They said Volvo does not extend warranties beyond 100,000 miles. There was nothing they could do. Also stating it's unfortunate that I have to replace the motor, but they will warranty it for one year unlimited miles. However I don't drive 56,000 miles in one year. Driving this motor for 56,000 miles will push me beyond 100,000 miles and that's my concern. They stated there is nothing Volvo can do for me. The rep. stated maybe they will do something, if this new motor is problem.

This is what the corporate office said, correct? Not the dealer; Volvo of North America.
If you have all of your service records and if they are as impeccable as you say they are then they ought to do more for you. You can always create a big stink, law suit, etc.
Other than that, I don't know what you want me to say.

Yes, the corporate office in Rockleigh, NJ. I also contacted Volvo in Sweden, but they have not returned my emails. NJ, tells me that Sweden forwards USA communications to them.
I did write a letter to both companies in hopes that it would reach someone who cares. This is my first Volvo and I bought it, because of their reported safe and reliable products. I thought this car would last me at least 100,000 + miles as long as I took care of the car and followed their maintenance manual. I am that car in the parking lot that it parked away from everyone else, so it doesn't get dinged.
Thank you for your advice. I will keep you posted, if I hear from Volvo.

Anyway, stick with your claims against the company. Make a big stink about it and perhaps they will help you out. No one likes bad publicity.

I wanted to give you an update.
Today, I received a call that my car was ready for pick up. It has been at the dealership exactly two weeks. I also received a call from a Volvo customer service manager stating that they can not warranty this new engine for 56,000 miles. She understood my reasons for it, but Volvo would not extend a warranty over 100,000 miles. She went on to say I could call her if the same thing occurs shortly after my 100,000 mile expires. She would do her best to help me get the engine repaired.
She also mentioned that the dealership should have given me a loaner car. To me, she seemed interested in hearing how long it took the dealer to complete the work. It was a very long time in my opinion. The service writer was very unprofessional stating “do you know what I did for you to get this motor replaced”. It could not have been that hard. Especially, sense they have all my maintenance records on file.
I am removing the dealership license plate holders and sticker. I will continue my maintenance at another dealership.
