Premature Brake Wear

Good Day, I own a 2016 XC90 and recently visited my local Volvo dealer, Im just bout hitting 30k and i was called to be told my rear brakes are worn and require to be replaced, can anyone legitimately advise me why these rear brakes have worn sooner than the front?

That's not premature for that car. I've seen some wear out as early as 16k but 30k to 40k is pretty common.

Thank You sir, I appreciate your response! I guess as I was told is the smart braking on the vehicle does have apparent tendency to have the rear brakes "drag" primarily in slow stop and go driving, which I do a lot , I work literally 8 minutes from home, but traffic is aB@%^ch.!! lol

I have the same vehicle. Rear brakes wearing more than front at 22K. Will need to replace pads at about 30k. I was told this was due to the setup of the electric parking brake, but that does not make much sense to me. I have always gotten at least 60k out of the first set of brakes for other vehicles I have owned.
