Recommendations For Oil Type On Older Volvo
I have a 2002 Volvo v70 with 139,000 miles on it. It uses over half a qt. of oil between changes, maybe more (3000 miles). I use Castrol 5-30. It doesn't leak a drop. Any suggestions on what oil type might be more beneficial for my Volvo? I heard someone suggest trying 10-30 but nothing heavier for older vehicles like these?

5-30 is a good choice. 1/2 qt oil consumption between changes is acceptable and normal.

+1. I don't consider a Volvo with 139K, "hi miles"... At least the Red Blocks I have are young at that mileage-- 5-30 is fine.

I'll stick with the 5-30. Thanks!

I just changed the oil in my 98 c70 with 148k about a month ago. I changed it to 10w30 full synthetic. my volvo is strictly a warm weather driver though so the little thicker oil only helps.
