removing pine sap from my XC70?
 

All,
I just returned from a vacation in Maine with my 04 XC70 and was sorry to see scores of pine sap blobs on my car. I removed the ones on my windshield with a razor blade, but I don't know how to get it off the paint. Any suggestions?

Try Simple Green, an excellant cleaner for all purposes...great on Volvo exterior and interior. Alcohol is good, vinegar, a good degreaser...oil soaps (better on 240 paint jobs), and most important; good old elbow grease...this, of course, includes keeping in mind your paint job's quality! wax on, wax off - applies to paint too.

I would use the bug and tar remover, i used Turtle Wax, and it works fine, it took off my emblems also all the little spots on the front bumper from all those bugs come right off too. apply some wax on the area and buff and it should all good.

thanks for the tips. A friend told me about stuff called "goop off." I used it but only minimally since its primary ingredient is xylene. It took the spots right off with minimal rubbing and the paint looks perfect still. If I wake up tomorrow and the xylene has eaten a hole in my hood, i'll let you know.
