Smoked Tail Lights?
Anyone have any idea where I can pick up smoked tail light film for an S60? I have seen a few websites offer pre-cut film that you apply like tint to the outside of the tail light, but I have yet to see anything for my car. Do you know where I should start looking?
Thanks!! |
I wouldn't do film. Most people that do film use window tint film but because it's exposed to the elements it doesn't last as long as the tint spray! I will try and find you a link for it.

Has anyone used that stuff, or know anyone that has? I'm really curious as to how it looks! |
I never used that stuff exactly, I went to a local hobby store and picked up basically the same stuff. Cleaned the PLastic of with denatured alcohol about 3 times so it was really clean. Then took some 1000 grit and sanded it lightly then cleaned it with alcohol again then sprayed a few coats. It came out good and lasted a few years, til i sold that car.

Good to know.
Can you use it on headlights too? Or would that be that illegal? |
illegal

Figured it probably was.
Oh well, I'll just have to shell out $440 for black projectors to get the complete blacked-out look. http://www.ipdusa.com/version.asp?st...371&V_ID=13143 They do look sweet though! |
VHT Nightshades spray works

You can Joey mod your current lights. Basically remove the front glass then paint the reflector part where the reflector isn't being used to aim light. then you'll be all murdered out.

Not a bad idea! |
I guess I'm a little hesitant to use the spray on my tail lights in the event that A) I mess it up, lol... or B) It doesn't look good and then I would have to buy new tail lights to get it back to where it was.
The headlight idea on the other hand sounds pretty nice. I would love to black out my headlights a little bit by painting the inside black. ...minus the reflective surfaces of course. lol.. |

I'm with you on the hesitance..... Maybe Photoshop a tinted look on so you can get an idea of how it would look?? Anyone done the headlights before?? |

Seems like a pretty simple job, was that the case? Do you have any pics of them? Thanks! |
Pics would be great. I can somewhat picture it in my mind, but mind mind has been pretty fuzzy as of late. :)

I used the product from VHT to do the head and tail lights on my S80. I used the type for windows though as the night shades does not dry glossy.
I would definetely spray clear coat on top as mine have just started to fade after 3 months and ALOT of car washes. If you want more pics let me know... Just browse the whole thread I posted. I know its not a S60 but its close... https://volvoforums.com/forum/showth...otoshop&page=7 |
