I've had this problem twice now so I'm sure others have too, when I have the door open, my 3 year old flips the exposed lock actuator closed (as it would be when the door is closed) I finally figured out you have to hold the door handle in the open position and then push the actuator back to the open position, hope this helps anyone with the same issue.
