Transmission fluid change on a TF-80SC
Hello all. I just bought a XC90 at auction yesterday that was in perfect running condition. after i took off with it the car drove good for about 5-10 mins. Then it started jerking into gear pretty roughly. I spend yesterday searching the web for the best way to address the issue and came up with nothing! Other than the transmissions in these are terrible! I wanted to get some Volvo experts opinions about weather i should change the tranny fluid 2-3 times and see if this helps the issue or if i should take a loss on the car without depending money on it. I managed to find a video on replacing the fluid and they said a vida dice diagnostic tool is a must for changing the fluid to set the correct fluid level and to reset the on board computer. is this true?
What does everyone think? Worth spending the $60 on the diagnostic tool and another $65 on the oil or should i take a loss and not waste any money on it? Heres the details on it: 2005 Volvo XC90 V8 Motor AWD Model TF-80SC Transmission(no idea if its ever been serviced) 144k miles Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks!! |
