vibration when accelerating??
as a neewbie you'll have to excuse me if ive posted this in the wrong area
right i'll get to it i live in the UK and own a Volvo 850 2.3 T5 manual (right hand drive) at some point there came a slight vibration, i could only feel this when on the motorway and was very slight. then it got worse and worse until it got to the point where i feel it vibrating all the time, when slow it's hardly noticeable, but from around 50+ MPH its quite bad, if i accelerate it seems better at 50+ but its still there. i took it to a garage i trust and had both the front wishbones replaced (seemed better for a day or 2) and the tracking and balancing done, but its still as bad now any ideas? |
What's up TWA? You may do better in the 850 section. My guess would be a mount has gone out. Maybe the one on the passenger side of the car, motor mount. The one that goes out with our LH drive's is the passenger side. These cars have a lot of torque and the mounts sometimes tear into pieces.

where do u feel the vibration?? steering wheel?? seat?? engine?? suspension?? noise?? also check if the tyres are wire shifted, eg. cupping, uneven wear
|
the vibration is coming from the front it may well be a mount like RSPI says ill check that. it does seem to be from the passenger side as well. with vibration its hard to tell but i think its travelling through the steering wheel, the tyre wear is even and there's no noises ill check that mount first and let u know if thats the problem
RSPI you got any pictures of ur 95 850 T-5R and what BHP you got it at? ive always wanted 1 there like rocking horse poo in the uk! |
Check all the engine mounts. Pay close attention to the one under the crank pulley.
Also check the 2 upper mounts.(One on engine and one on firewall) Also if the hydraulic ones are bad you will see what looks like rust or a brown liquid that stained the subframe. |
do u mean engine vibration?? or suspension vibration??
|
i would say engine or steering i would not say suspension
