volvo drive e question

Hey Volvo lovers,

I just purchased a used 2015 V60 with 35,000 miles. I am still under warranty. Should I purchase the extended warranty? Has anyone had problems with the engine or with the car? I want to know if turning off the stop/start is better for the long haul.
I appreciate any input.

Thanks

Generally I advise against extended warranties because the warranty seller has the house advantage. They usually have data collected over a few years to estimate the AVERAGE cost of repairs a specific make/model requires for time and mileage covered, so your bet is whether or not your particular car will be above average in those cost or below. The warranty writer makes out pretty well except in rare exception over then entire pool of cars they cover. In the case of really new and unproven technology the gamble is bigger both for you and the warranty co. In either case you are guessing, but if/when I buy a warranty I ALWAYS buy it from the manufacturer. All the dealers, not just the one you frequent, know the procedure for handling a claim, so if something happens while you are on a road trip you are stuck waiting for the dealer to get a warranty authorization from some company they don't know and have never dealt with. Also, ask for a copy of the contract, not just the pitch flyer, and read carefully the terms. If a component is listed as covered it is, and if it isn't listed then it's not.
