Default Volvo Racing/High Performance

Does anyone know if Volvo has a high perfomance branch of their company (i.e. STi - Subaru, Nismo - Nissan,SHO - Ford, Mazdaspeed - Mazda, etc...) or what would be considered their most popular race-based third party company (Lotus - Ford, Maclaren - BMW/Mercedes, Calloway - GM, Rod Millen - Mazda, AMG - Mercedes, Cosworth - Euro Ford, etc...)? Are there any high performance parts for the Volvos that replace the normal everyday Volvo parts (i.e. Engine parts, body parts, interiors, exhaust, etc...) that are sanctioned by Volvo?

Evolve, but IMO they are way too expsensive and not worth the money.

Volvo last campaigned a car in 2005 I believe-two S60R's.One car was wrecked the other was up for sale a while back.Neither car ever finished a race.In the late 90's,they campaigned some S40s I think.VolvoSpeed ,HEICO,eVolve,SwedeSpeed, ipd plus others all make speed parts but I dont think any are Volvo sanctioned.U kind of have to cobble up your own package from different sources. My S40 has HEICO exhaust, ipd and Volvo Speed strut tower bars, home made CAI, Enki wheels, etc, etc.U just have to search around to find what u need.BJ

I'm sorry but Swedespeed and Volvospeed do not make parts. These are Volvo forums on the internet. People on Swedespeed or Volvospeed may make parts for Volvo's, but the forums do not make parts.

How about TWR? I know that the design and original construction of the 1st gen C70s were made in partnership with Tom Walkinsaw Racing, would they have anything related to improving the performance of the C70? I know the 2nd/3rd gen C70 do not have any relation to TWR and would not expect anything from them at that point.

PS: Swedes are into rally racing and ice racing, I would have thought that there would have been some sanctioning by Volvo or some company that closely works with Volvo for such market areas. Also, most companies use the performance divisions to help R&D ideas and techniques; a shame Volvo does not view their cars in this manner.

Maybe they have decided that the image they want to project is a nice safe luxury family car and not a b---- to the wall racer, ice or otherwise.bj

Too bad as the potential is there like this....

or this...

As noted the C70 was suppose to be ground breaking for Volvo, the old "...this is not your father's volvo" type deal. Even the release of the C70's image marketing had them placing the C70 as the new Simon Templar action car and rave reviews from motor mags in '98. What now they just dried up and crawled back into their old shells? I can;t believe it. They even were racing in DTM and BTCC for a while, well the DTM model was stillborn, but the BTCC was with the S40's right?

Volvo has been doing well these days. I find their parts well enough. I got this Volvo clutch several months ago after a hard time looking everywhere.

there is a motorsports catalog that is out there, the only problem is it's in swedish. and you have to get one from a dealer over in europe. i have seen one and order parts from it. when one of the sales man at the dealer i worked for wanted to go racing. and the reason we do not see volvo's racing in theis country is due to volvo of north america does not want to project that image.

Most of the reason you do not see many Volvo's racing in like SCCA now is because Volvo does not want to give the racing association the info for the car and the access to the Vida to read the cars.

Agreed. My Boss races SCCA in a Mini Cooper now he had a Honda civic.
They were trying to get it so Volvo's could run but hit the wall like I said above.

They wanted SCCA to pay something like 10K a year for the Vida and would not hand over all the specs for the car either.
