Wet Speakers!

Whilst re-installing new speakers into rear side doors, found them soaking wet on removal! (Been raining recently.)

All door seals look good. No idea why this is happening. Only fix I can think of is to wrap plastic round the speakers.

Question: Is there an easy fix, perhaps involving aerosol-foam insulation?

Wet speakers are a symptom of a leak. Wrapping them will not be effective unless they are 100% sealed - an impossible task given that the wires and any mounting screws will be impossible to seal. Humidity will work itself into them at some point. Also, as water sits in the bottom of the door it will begin rusting. And then there is the smell that will develop as stuff grows. Find the leak(s).

Consulted my Volvo mechanic. He said he has seen the V70 waggon doors admitting water before, that so long as the drains are kept clear, all will be well.

That doesn’t help my speakers. Dislike the idea of a rinky-dink fix involving plastic wrap, so I’m leaning toward the foam insulation fix.

I know this will end window opening, but I’m okay with that. These are the rear doors (fronts exhibited no leaking), and the window control module can simply be left unplugged—to avoid window mechanism fighting against foam when activated by passengers.
