Why does my 240 die on the interstate?
 

Hey guys, I have a 92 240 wagon, and I was hoping someone out here can help me with the question of questions.. Why does my wagon just die while driving? My girlfriend has a 91 240 wagon as well, and same issues. It runs like a new car most of the time, but on occasion be it hot or cold weather, full tank or on the way to fill up, 75mph or stop and go, whether I had cheerios or frosted flakes that morning, it just dies. My girlfriend thought hers was fuel pumps, replaced those, kept happening. Thought it might be idle, fixed that, kept happening. I was thinking since these newer cars (yes, 92 is "new") are computer controlled, maybe it's a problem with the brain? Any help would be amazing. I know someone out there has the magic cure for this so called volvo disease... Thanks a lot for any pointers or magical fixes!!

You need to tell us very specifically exactly what the car does when it dies, and under what conditions, ie, road speed, engine speed, temperature etc.
The more information the better!
It is almost never a computer problem with electronically controlled engines, always somethign else.

Thats the problem. Its an intermittent failure, never the same thing twice. Sometimes at highway speeds, cruising along and it's like you turned the key off. Other times it could be stopped in stop and go traffic, without pressing the gas it just cuts off. I was thinking maybe the ignition module? --I read that its a problem with some of the 700's or 800's or 900's or something, not exactly sure how much of those models carries over to the 240.-- That's about as much as I know right now, thanks for the help..
