is it worth customizing?

i have a 88 740T, its a straight drive which i heard is rare....i wanted to know if it was worth it to fix it up, not much engine work, but i wanted to do some cosmectic and suspension work on it

or would it be better to save the money for a 850 or s70?

thx for any tips

115,500 miles on rebuilt engine, about 300K on body.......runs well and no problems running, just need to replace the strut brushings.....

the question is is it worth it to you? Do you want to customize it? IT is YOUR car, any money you put into it should be for you and not for anyone else.

if saving up for an 850 or S70 is a legitimate option, id take that route. S70s are fun to work with, but thats just me :)

i was thinking and the other end of the isle is that no one else has this car around here......

so it would be cool to be unique with an older volvo......but then by the time i put a thousand in there i am that much further from an 850 or s70...

i really enjoy this car and even more since i got the intake for it........

shoot ill just keep it......

i think in general, if you mod a volvo, you are already one in a million of car modders, so you stand out regardless of your make/model/year and all.

but good luck with it

Here is what it could look like with some body mods. Different color though. And a different style.
These are my friends old cars.
This is what it started as.

RE: is it worth customizing?

im going to go head and keep it........i dont really want a kit for mine, maybe later on those eiker wheels on ipd....they look good but i dont have the money right now.........then a stiffer suspension.....either bilstein HD or koni adjustable........but of course the sway bar.....thats coming soon........

hey tech,

that creaking sound that i threaded about (sounding like a hull of a boat in water) is getting a little worse, and its more so when i turn right......so would that be the left side brushings??? i might go head and replace them all bc the ipd ones are good.....any other things that could cause it?

Jack up the front end safely and put on Jack stands. Feel for looseness in the front end on each side.
Maybe a balljoint,Tie rod,Strut rod bushings.
The only way to tell is to check it out.
