What is the function.....

So I had to do a dpf delete done a few years ago, due to a bad dpf. Only knocked the internal ceramics out, and had software done.
But this thing has been bothering me ever since, and can someone maybe tell me what the function of this part is, as per the picture. Thats the top of
the dpf that connects to the exhaust turbine of the turbo.

To me, this is a restriction, but what is the function? Emisions only or to maybe make a fortex lol, don't think it can have anything to do with overspooling....

Emissions

So I can remove it, no harm to the engine?

I don't have enough knowledge or experience with diesels to give good advice on that, but I don't think it will hurt the engine.

Will get some more feedback. I know places remove it for stage 2, as far as I can see.

I believe there are sensor(s) that detect the efficiency of these filters, similar to a catalytic converter. So those sensor(s) function are probably removed with the tune too.

Yes there are two differencial pressure sensors, which was "removed" with the dpf delete. But if I am comfortable to remove it, I will have it re-tuned.
