Description:

For Sale: 84 245 DL B23F/M46 - located in Miami, FL - if the location scares you, remember that there is the Amtrak AutoTrain, which will take you and your car from Orlando to DC overnight! A friend just paid $350 for a ride for himself and his car.

This car has lots of cool upgrades, but has rust (although not the usual rust from salt, as it is originally a Florida car) and the paint is awfully faded, clearcoat is peeling in some parts, totally peeled off on the horizontal surfaces. It needs to go someone who can deal with those issues.
I converted this car from automatic to manual, so it has the higher compression engine of the automatic cars.

I bought this car in 2008 with 78k miles. It was at a shop, they could not figure out why it would not run. I bought it, towed it home, and after some time figured out that the gas tank has rusted from years of sitting, and would block up the fuel filter in 10 miles or so. I changed the tank and has been driving it ever since. However, my girlfriend stopped driving a few years ago, we have her Element as the main vehicle, even that we barely drive. I work from home, so I don't even turn the Volvo on for weeks. It now has ALMOST 171k miles.

I just replace the front right and rear left doors, one had rust, the other was hit a few years ago by an inattentive driver. I sprayed them myself to the original metallic blue, while the rest of the car is faded to much lighter.

Upgrades:

16" Galaxy alloy wheels (16").

Bridgestone Potenza RE760 ultra high performance summer tires (cannot be used below freezing temps) installed in 2020, have about 1500 miles on them
25/23 mm swaybars.
Stiffer front springs from '79 242GT.
Strut-to-firewall braces.
Strut tower brace (Astraight one, not one of those silly bent ones iPD used to sell).
Bilstein shocks, replaced in 2013 at 135k miles (don't believe the lifetime warranty, that is for breakage, not wear, I had to pay full price for these replacements).
AC system fully replaced to 134a system with official Volvo conversion kit back in 2011, including evaporator for that refrigerant. Compressor replaced 4-5 years ago. System works well enough even in the current Miami summer heat.
Braided brake hoses, Repco brake pads all around.
Ignition system replaced with Electronic distributor by 1-2-3 Ignition - see pics. This is the one where you select the advance curve with a microswitch, not the one with bluetooth and app.
Fuse box replaced with one with blade-type fuses. The old one will come with the car.
Turbo cat-back exhaust system.
AC/-power steering setup from '91-'93 with the PS fluid reservoir integrated into the pump.
Smaller steering wheel from a newer 240. When I bought the car I put a leather wrap on it, now that is showing a lot of wear.
Tachometer/small clock/oil pressure gauge.
Power locks solenoid in driver's door, ready for remote.
Later style driver's seat with cloth upholstery.  I have just replaced the upholstery with some in very nice condition.
Volvo floor mats.
Headrest padding on front seats.
Rear Headrests.
Cargo gate to separate cargo area from passenger compartment.
Kenwood AM/FM/CD player with aux input and a remote
I have a non-receiver hitch that can go with it, it is not mounted currently.
Newer style windshield with black rubber moulding (found on '91-'93's), now leaking. See pic of where the moulding shrank and had to be cut.

I had to replace tailgate after backing into an obstacle with the old one while it was open. The new one is from a later car with the 3rd brake light, but I have not wired it up. It is baby blue, while the rest of the car is metallic blue.

Issues:
Leaky windshield
Awfully faded paint
Rust, worst is under the right cargo area window, where it is rusted through on both the interior and the exterior. I have it taped off with duct tape so the heavy tropical rain here in Miami does not end up inside the car. There is some rust on the front floor sas well, due to the leaky windshield, I assume, but the rocker panels are solid.  The spare tire wells are also rusted through at the bottom, not behind the rear wheels like it happens in road-salt areas.
Trailing arm bushings
HVAC controls have a vacuum leak, so the air is blown from all the vents, no matter what is button is pressed
Dozens of other small things that I just don't even notice any more (tailgate power lock, rear tailgate washer, rear seatback lever broke recently, etc.)

I have recorded all the maintenance I have done to the car in an Excel sheet, happy to share it. I have always used Mobil 1 oil and Mann filters.

I also have a large stash of spare parts that I will include with the car, here is a summary:
100A alternator, starter, 2 coils, V regulator.
Rotary AC compressor
front corner lights, bulbs, sockets
wiper motor, Power Window switch set for 2dr, PW motor, crank shaft pulley spacers, throttle cable, wagon rear seat speakers, extra door speaker, t belt cover, exhaust heat duct, outer tie rod end, front swaybar polyurethane bushing and grease, gas cap, oil cap, coolant caps, ws washer fluid caps, brake fluid cap, horizontal jack cap.
Gauge cluster voltage regulators old &new type, sensors, flame trap. Exhaust hangers, lock set, radiator fan clutch, License plate mount, brake Junction, bumper trim, battery tie down. TP sensors, air valve, o2 sensor, FPR. ECU (causes high idle), ICUs, AMMs, distributor and ignition system wiring. Clutch set, radiator fan w clutch, front brake rotors, flywheel cover, rear mud flaps, fluid pump, seat interior parts, cruise control actuator, antenna cable extension. New blower motor, thermostat, intake hose. u-shaped intake vacuum hose. Lug nuts. Exhaust studs, intake studs. OD drive gears. Bushings. Right rear wheel hump upholstery (the one on the car is torn).
Oil pump, water pump. Fuel pump check valve. The remains of the AC conversion kit: goo, esther oil, PAG 46 oil, 2 driers, o rings, orifice valve, port fitting.
New coolant hoses, heater hoses, clamps, exhaust gaskets, parking break shoe holders, speedo drive seals.
