    Hi i guess your sick to death about hearing this problem but i own a V70 T5 06/1999 with 133k on it. A white label ETM and i get erratic idle all the time on tick over etc 600revs to about 1100revs. No Ets light or stalling etc just erratic at tick over Do you think just a clean would sort this out.....Ady.Wimborne.Dorset

    I am having trouble deciding cam sprockets location as they were seperated..exaust cam gear will go 180 degrees should the lobe be up on exaust and down on intake cam???? please help

    Hi there Bobec- I see you're an expert in the ETM field. I have a 1999 S70 GLT with the ETS light on for over a year now. I've cleaned the ETM once since I've gotten the light. Volvo cleaned it back in 2006. The car drives fine, but i once in a while it would die on my when I start it up and won't start for a while. A friend purchsed an ETM for me from the junkyard, I don't know what to do it with since it's the same as mine, with white sticker, not the newer yellow one. Any suggestions? Where are you? Maybe I could drive my car to you. Thanks.

    Oh, I hope you see this since your last reply was over a year ago.

    These are the diagnostics output. If you notice anything, please let me know and I will have the mechanic test it. Or if it's outside, I can get a meter and measure myself. Please just tell me how. I appreciate it very much

    Bobec,

    hope it's something very simple. Also, I have changed my alternator in APril 2010 and I got SRS since then. I also had some oil coming out of the broken oildip. From the time I changed the alternator, I often get a battery sign and a message liek E-power urgent (or something like that). I just have to press the gas pedal and the battery sign disappears and no more E-power message.

    The car starts with all the electrical equipments working fine (windows, doors, radio....) Can you check these codes that I got (why ETM is no fault found and I need a new one)?

    Hi Bobec,

    I would like to seek your help in a very urgent and important matter regading my Volvo S80 T66 99. Financially I am not able to get another car so I have to find a way to repair it.
    It's broken now...It would not move. I start it fine and it will only go at speed of 10 miles per hour

    I was just told by the dealer that I need a throttle body. I cleaned mine ($200) at a shop but the same problem came back within a few hours. So I am having doubt about the need a new throttle. When he cleaned the throttle, it got better at idling and the rpm fluctuates but not as much as before.
    The dealer told me that it would be better to seek another car as this one requires a lot of money to fix (they would not itemize what's wrong with it and I didn't pay for diagnostics thinking that they didn't know what wrong with it.

    Good quality photos (and very large files).

    You mentioned your throttle position resistor strips were in good condition and I find this interesting. My 2001 V70 T5 with 117K miles is showing no signs of ETM problems but I expect a time when I'll have to do something about it and would just prefer to replace these resistor strips myself but I haven't yet found a source for them, yet.

    hey Bobec, i just rebuilt the head in my 02 S60 T5 i have it running but cant make it run smooth..... i think it has something to do with the vvt... can u help me out?
