1986 740 GLE original owner needs help!
Greetings Volvo forum members!
I have just joined your esteemed group and would like to introduce myself.
My name is Stuart and I live in Los Angeles CA. I am the original owner of a 1986 Volvo 740 GLE Wagon. I put 524,000 miles on the original engine and then replaced it three years ago with a rebuilt engine that had 130,000 miles. Same with the transmission. I now use the car as a secondary vehicle and have only added 20,000 miles in the last three years.
Unfortunately I was involved in a collision a few weeks ago that did damage to the front right side of the car. The hood, front right fender and headlight assembly all need replacing. There was no damage to the mechanical operation of the car which continues to drive great!
I am having difficulty finding these parts and am open to suggestions as to where to find them.
My mechanic of many years also advised me that it would be best to locate a similar vehicle in a salvage yard. He wants to cut out the front right side of the junked car and replace my damaged frame with that one.
I have attached photos.
Needless to say, I love my car and want to restore it and keep it for many more years.
