2nd Volvos the Charm!

Hi all!
Just joined, and I'm supposedly a very unlikely Volvo owner.
I just bought my 2nd Volvo 940 Wagon, and my friends couldn't be more confused. I'm an Old School Muscle Car guy, and an American Car Guy, and I High Tech Guy (Network Engineer as career). And my friends are confused why I've become a fan of the Old Fashioned, Boxy, Slow, Swedish Station Wagons.

I bought my first one from my work. I work for a chain of Car Dealerships. The Maroon 1994 Volvo 940 I purchased from our Wholesale Lot for $660. It had a clean Carfax, 170k miles, ran smooth, drove good, and even came with a 2 set of wheels and winter tires. The only downside was the clearcoat on the hood was flaking off badly and the sunroof was broken.
I drove this for 9 months, then sold it to my roommate who drove it for 2 years then totaled it in a midnight accident. Someone ran a red light, t-boned him and kept on going. He was fine, but the Volvo wasn't so lucky. I was more than a little heartbroken.

Fast Forward to a few months ago. I went shopping for a car for my niece who is turning 16 soon. And I come across this cherry "Tropical Green Metalic" (Volvo's term for this weird Blue-Green-Teal color) 1994 940 Wagon. Owned by another Volvo Enthusiast. It was well taken care of, and ran even better than my first 940 and it had 60k more miles on it!
So, for the next 9-12 months, I will be driving and fixing/upgrading this 940. and if I don't completely fall in love with it, my niece will be getting a Swedish Brick! Although, I've only had it a week, and I'm already loving it. So I might just have to go find another 740/940 for her and keep this one.

See it in my Album https://volvoforums.com/forum/album.php?albumid=1048

I have just really come to love these RWD Volvos. Easy to work on, decent gas mileage, and best of all, they just plain work! They do everything that a car is supposed to do without a crapload of problems and issues! I hate to say that it's a rare thing to find, but it is. These 240/740/940 cars are engineered and built the way ALL car should be. Solidly!

Of course I don't need to tell you guys that, you all already know it.
LOL.

Welcome to the forum.

Be sure to post technical questions in the 940 section.

Wait till you drive a turbocharged 850s (S60, S70 etc...); they are by no means "slow".

Cheers,

I'd like to take a couple of the Turbo cars for a spin, but I don't think I'd own a 850/S60/Etc. I'm not much of a Front Wheel Drive fan (Or AWD that are based on FWD configurations) I have had a few FWD, but I didn't like them as much. I learned to drive on classic muscle cars (Chevelles and Firebirds) and I just feel more at home and in control with RWD. Call me crazy but I do.

I'd really like to try a 940/740 Turbo car. The guy I bought this 940 off of had a 940 Turbo he was keeping for "fun on the weekends".
