How do I find out how many cylinders my Volvo V40 Cross Country has?
Hi all!
I'm trying to get my battery replaced and I need to know the amount of cylinders my V40 CC has. I read somewhere that the 2nd numberon the engine serial number is an indication, is that true?
My engine serial is B5254T12, does that mean my car has 5 cylinders?
Thanks!
Chris

the engine codes on volvos translates as follows B = gas engine, first digit is the cylinder count (5), next two are the displacement (2.5L), next the valves (4 valves per cylinder) and T is for turbo (F is naturally aspirated). last two digits are the engines design generation. (gives clues as to things like fuel injection system) etc. You can read more on the Volvo Modular Engine Wiki page.
