How do you keep an XC 60 running and locked

My husband likes to take our dog out for errands. How does he keep the car locked and running so the dog can stay in an airconditioned car?

With the Volvo app you can start and run the car for up to 30 minutes. Then you have to return to the car and use a key to start the engine.
