Default Hydraulic strut on rear hatch 2012 xc60

I just r/r the hydraulic strut on the rear hatch but it doesn’t work. I replaced the 2 hydraulic lines too. Is there a bleed valve somewhere to expel the trapped air?

Earlier cars do have a hydraulic system - If hydraulic, Volvo says "bleed the system" ! Does the purple nut shown "bleed" the air?

Hi Hoonk, thanks for the quick reply. I’m a newbie here. I’ve replaced the Volvo hydraulic strut. I replaced the lines too because on the old ones one of the nipple to the strut broke off. Prior to that happening we have to sometimes open or close hatch manually. There was a lot of fluid leaking out when that nipple broke. All new parts are ordered at a Volvo dealer using my car vin #.
I’m going to look at the unit shown on your picture that has the bleed valve. Do you still know or have the bleeding procedure?
Thank you so much for your help. This saves some $$ for both my wife and I(both just retired).

Hi Hoonk, I don’t have that purple nut. Just a depressed button with no labeling. It doesn’t move either when depressed.

My earlier pictures are from the Volvo factory service manual - the last step is "bleed the system" with no explanation.

The factory service manual is called VIDA. You can find a stolen/hacked version of 2014D Vida easily for free on the internet that will have info for up to 2015 year model cars. It natively runs on a win 7 pro machine, but others have done a VM or win 10.
