Instrument cluster electronics
 

I have a 2002 S60. The lights and the gauges in the instrument cluster work intermittently. Driving along and all of a sudden you lose the speedometer, tach, gas gauge, etc. Gauges and lights. All the other lights and controls on the dashboard work. My mechanic suspects the instrument cluster itself which could be very expensive to replace. I was hoping it as a fuse or loose wire. Anyone else experience this problem? How did you correct?
