Default Longtime Volvo owner, brand new 740 Turbo owner!

Hey everyone!

I'm 89_740Turbo. As my username states, I'm the proud owner of a low milage 1989 740 Turbo Intercooler. I wanted to introduce myself here as I'd like to meet other 740 turbo owners and absorb any knowledge they have. It's a 4 speed manual with 5 speed overdrive, 2.3L 15T engine and m47 transmission. It features the rare checkered pattern interior as well. There is ZERO rust.

To any 740 Turbo owners, please, give me any knowledge, advice and tips you have! I know a LOT but want to learn anything I don't know.

Overall it is a very simple car. The 4cyl turbo is reliable and the only thing that can give trouble is a clogged crankcase vent system.

Change the oil and filter every 5,000 miles and change the transmission fluid every 60k miles.

Good to know. How difficult is a 16v upgrade? I know the current engine is all bolt ons... but still
