Looking at a Volvo S60r/ need advice

Hello,

I am not really familiar with the world of Volvos but I am very interested in a (2004) S60r in my area. I was really just looking for buyer advice on what to look for when going to see it. Any and all advice / responses are greatly appreciated!! Thank you in advance!!

as with any older car, knowing the maintenance history is important. Some areas of concern for inspection: angle gear in the transmission can fail, particularly if the car is driven hard (like ice/snow to blacktop), front suspension can wear (control arm bushings, sway bar end links,), the 4C shocks are costly to replace, timing belt is required at 110K miles or 10 years, PCV systems need to be maintained on all Volvo turbo 5s. After that is electrical stuff - make sure all the steering column controls work properly, dash stuff works properly etc. Given the car is 15 years old, it may be worth investing $100 for a professional inspection (on a lift etc)
