My first volvo.

Hey all. Been lurking here a couple months. you all have really great info. I am a GM master tech and used to repair transmissions. I only work on my own car these days and recently bought myself a 97 S90 for 500 bucks in GA. What a sweet car. Feels like I'm driving a mercedes. I just got a new radiator in and it's got a rich code to be dealt with later. First, I need to tow it on a U-hail dolly from GA to NJ. Rear wheels on the ground with the driveshaft unbolted from the rear diff is what I'm guessing. I haven't been able to get under it all that much yet. Has anyone else dolly towed theirs in this manner? Any advice? Thanks all and I hope to be able to share anything I can with you all in the future (Volvo's got 4L60e trannys ;))

Yeah it's cheap and already on reserve. I just slipped my floorjack under it to take a peek at how the driveshaft connects before I pack all my tools away. Heh, I couldn't even see the driveshaft at first glance so came back inside to wake up some more.

So I ended up removing the driveshaft completely. I tried just unbolting it from the differential but I couldn't wire it up out of the way. I wasn't going to take any chances for the 850mi tow. Nice part is the automatic transmission has its own flange bolted to the output shaft so you don't have to worry about fluid coming out. The move went great and now I just have to get it registered and start driving this awesome car around.
