What have you been told?

1. Since it is a 1999 you have the ETM issues. So if you haven't already have that looked at. The software update for the ETM and also possiblt having the whole ETM reaplced. Both are a Volvo only fix no other place can do this. $1200 abouts for the ETM replacement and about $100 for the software update. You may only need the software update.

2. Yes Volvo's are money pits sometimes. So do regular maintainence and you should be fine. Treat the car right.

Hi ..I recieved your reply...the comments I get are usually about repair costs and frequent problems with engine etc. I have had no problems yet and love the car for it's performance and comfort. I have read several posts about chips and stuff and feel like I'm on another planet. Does this have to do with car computers or what? What role does the upgrade chips play in the cars everyday performance...horsepower, gas mileage ?? I'm just taking guesses here. I heard that there is a recall for the modle I have and am waiting on the information. Also what are the mileage recommendations for tune-ups on this car? I have just gone over 120,000 and the engine light is on...I'm wondering if this is the reason. Thanks for any information.. also is this the best place to get feedback on this site or is there another thread running about this topic of maintence Thanks...haroldh
