Hello all. My name is Robert and I just wanted to introduce myself. I recently purchased my 3rd 850. This one is a 1997 850 GLT Turbo. I have always worked on cars, and over the years have fallen in love with Volvo's, so I look forward to talk with other "car nuts" like myself.

Welcome to the forum, and yes that is a nice looking 850. Make sure to follow scheduled maintenance to get the most out of it.

Thanks so much, but I already have a repair question. Yesterday was the first rain on my new car, and as any good car owner, I went ahead and replaced the cheap wipers with some of those new Bosch ION form fitting wipers. They are badass, but my driverside wiper at top stroke, doesn't make full contact in the middle of the blade. Almost like it bows' up in the middle on maybe the last 3 or 4 inches of the swipe. I tightened down the nut holding the wiper arm, which did nothing. What do I do? I should add that the reason for changing wipers in the first place was because of this same issues with the cheap ones. It leads me to believe that the arm is bent or the spring is worn out. Any ideas.

Other than the typical, what would you be refering to as far as maintenance? This is my first turbo. I know about premium fuel, and let it Idle for a few after hard driving before shuting off.What else should I know?

The 1st post covers many known-to-fail or popular scheduled items. The 2nd post covers tune-up items. I keep updating them. I recommend running a full synthetic oil + OEM (MANN) filter.

The wiper is known to miss that part of the windshield/screen. Some people seem to bend the arm, but I cut a thick washer in half and put it between the bottom of the attachment stud & the blade to change the installation angle, which solved the problem. See what others know as alternatives.
