New guy to Volvos. Hello!

Hi everybody. I just bought my first Volvo yesterday. It is a 1996 850 GLT. It's in pretty good shape. Been repainted at some point so the paint is very good as well. Could use a touch up in a few areas, but overall paint looks great. It's got some oil leaks that I'm going to have to check out this weekend. Tranny shifts great. The car didn't come with an owners manual, so I can read up on it through that resource. Does anyone have an online manual for these cars? Is there an online service manual that I can print for it?

At some point in this car's life someone installed an aftermarket alarm to accompany the factory one. I haven't quite figured it out yet. the aftermarket one only seems to go off if I hold the LOCK button onthe remote. Holding LOCK disables the siren as well. Whereas you push lock to lock the car, then push lock again while it's locked and it arms the factory alarm. There is no horn beep or anything indicating that is has been armed. The lights blink, but they do that when I lock/unlock the car. That's something else I'll need to figure out. A/C is also not working. Anyway, I'm sure I'll be doing a lot of searching and question asking here.

I've been a Honda guy since I started driving 12 years ago. Still am, but this Volvo is now my daily driver. Don't plan to do much modification to it as I like it the way it is. A more responsive suspension and steering rack might be nice for those hard corners in the country, but I can just slow down. I'm used to driving Hondas that are so light and easy to toss into and out of turns!

I look forward to learning a lot about this car! So far, its been a great car. I'll have to post a pic of it soon. Maybe I'll go out and snap a pic or two before going to work.

Have a great day people!

Thanks guys. I've got a lot to learn. I've already learned that my PCV system needs to be replaced. Hooray for a $155 fix!
