Default New Volvo Owner!

First time owner here, bought an older one but very sweet. 98 S70 GLT with 107,000 on it, black, leather etc etc... Quiet, fast, and sound on the road. Decent upgrade form the 95 Ford Aspire, I must say . Only problem was, as soon as I got an hour north of the purchasing location, and took the offramp, it started whirring from the front right wheel (or thereabouts) It is a constant, harmonic whir that doesn't change pitch and only emits while the wheels are in motion, in drive or rolling slowly in neutral so it's not tranny. bearing+backing plate???
Talking to the people who sold it to me (who apparently are sheisters, lucky me), they used new but poor quality brake pads so I am hoping that is all that's wrong--I've read around that lack of quality pads/shims can cause noise. It won't make a peep while up on a lift, or any specific driving action other than going 25-45mph. ODD!!!! Everything else about this car is great so I will be making her perfect and keeping her a very long time.

If there are any stickies I could be directed to or FAQ's that might show me what to expect in the future for this car, (or even some pos/neg input), I would be much obliged.
