Oh no! It's a RATMONSTER!!!

Sorry, but that is my introduction title on every forum I join nowadays. It is usually just weird enough to garner a few peeks at my intro.

My name is Wes, and on the internet I typically go by ratmonster. It's usually free to use, and reflects my interest in rat-look European cars and American rat rods.

I recently bought my current daily driver from a member of my congregation. She had owned it since new, and taken good care of it (not meticulous care, but kept it serviced and maintained fairly well.) I bought it as an almost bone-stock 1992 Volvo 240 wagon. White with blue interior, 14" steel wheels with hubcaps, naturally aspirated, 5-speed with 3rd row seating.

The only aftermarket parts on the car were the stereo and speakers. The rear door speakers were Blaupunkt and the front were Pyramid, with an older Pioneer Supertuner head unit. I removed the Pyramid and replaced them with the Blaupunkt for the front, and installed Pioneer 6x9 speakers near the rear hatch.

The 6x9 reside where the 3rd row seats used to live, which were removed for weight reduction and because they didn't look safe for passengers. In good shape, but out-dated and right where a rear-end collision would leave you a double amputee.

Other modifications include removing the hubcaps and painting the steelies satin black, grill emblem deleted, muffler deleted, air box moded, horn wiring re-routed and horn button installed, and most window switches replaced (a repair, not a mod, but worth mentioning.)

Future mods wishlist include 195/60 r14 tires (no specific brand, just like the look of that size), removing two coils from the front springs and one from the rear, chrome lug nuts and trim rings, and possibly a different paint color. Also considering a small amp at some point.

I look forward to getting more involved in the world of Volvo ownership. One of my co-workers drives a 2005 V70 wagon, and my manager has a beater 1990 740 wagon, so all of the info I can garner will be helpful to somebody!

Thanks for allowing me to join Volvoforums.com!!!!
