treating leather interior
 

My 2006 V70 has premium black leather, wood finish interior. Now up to 5,000 miles I want to treat the leather seats, dash and doors. Any recommendations to protect and preserve the interior, before I go buy products? Thanks

i cant help you with treatment suggestions, but if they're the same leather as the ones equipped in the fords, then you might have some cracking in the near (2 yrs?) future. Hopefully its something you could tend to before it does start to go bad.

I use a two part, cleaner and then conditioner from Meguiars (sp?). It comes in a squeeze bottle and one part is white and the other is light blue. I'm not at home right now so I can't tell you the exact name. I got it at Autozone.

I have both a Volvo V70 2006 and a Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer 2005, both full option + leather. The Volvo is just a few weeks old, so I had no need to treat the leather yet. The Ford is now 11 months and has 18K/Km on it. I maintain both cars very well, and do all the cleaning myself. I have cleaned the leather in the Ford on 2 occasions with Amor- All Leather cleaner/protestant and it works very well. The dashboard I clean with dish-wash soap mixed with water and Microfiber towels. Really works great and keeps it looking like new. I can recommend Microfiber because it will not scratch the plastic wood paneling; even after many times cleaning it looks like new and no swirl marks. I would stay away from commercial cleaners as they could attract dust as they often leave a film on the dash. Some one mentioned earlier in this post that leather cracks in Ford cars, I have not seen that here, while we are in a very hot climate which is not good for leather (today it was here in Dubai 48c). Even in these temperatures, the leather keeps well and looks like it is new. Also, I have read in previous posting that the leather in Volvo and Ford maybe identical; this is not my experience, at least not from looking at the cars I own. The leather in my Volvo is of a different quality and appears to be of far durable than in the Expedition, (Although the leather in the Ford is of acceptable quality, the Volvo is far superior). The quality feeling of a Volvo altogether is great; good luck with your new V70; I’m really impressed and happy with mine.

I have an interest in cowboy boots so I've done a lot of research on leather. The best product I've found, and it's available at most automotive stores is LEXOL. They make a cleaner, and a separate conditioner...runs around $15 for the liter spray bottle which is enough for many applications. The conditioner is awesome and leaves no residue. Try it and let me/us know how you like it.

I've not tried the other products mentioned on this thread, but if they have a Lanolin base, they should be fine too.
