Volvo brake failure system

I have a 2004 volvo s40 t5 with 115,489 miles. For last past months my wiper blades would randomly come on, thinking it was the motor I replaced it, but come to find out it was the CEM that was getting wet because of my sunroof. Every was fine with the car until last week the car message board said brake system failure and abs light came on. The gauges would not work too but the car would go and still run. Then after 60 secs my car would come back to life with no messages but now I have a reduce engine performance message. I've been reading and it may not be the abs module, so can it be the CEM ? Any help please. I'm a college student and I don't want to spend money on parts I don't need. Also the nearest volvo dealership is like 96 miles away.

Thank you
