Volvo Introduction

New to forum, owner of Volvos since 1988. Have owned (3) 240's, (1) 740, (1) 850 turbo, and (1) 940. Fastest car owned would be the 850 turbo. Key to maintaining your volvo, is a good mechanic. I have discontinued going to the dealer years ago. Always used volvo replacement parts. At times, repairs can be costly, but the car s are safe and solid. Currently my 850 Turbo has 130,000 miles, 940 has 253,000 miles and the 240 has 240,000 miles. Newer Volvo's after 1999 have to much computer gear on them. The small repair shops can't afford the equipment to repair them. I will continue to buy Volvo's prior to 1999! That's all for now, Volvo for life as they say. Hope to read other future responses.

Volvo was born on April 14, 1927 when the first car, ÖV4 (nicknamed Jakob) left the factory in Gothenburg.
The 1920s was the decade when cars made a real breakthrough, both in the USA and Europe. In Sweden, people's interest in cars was seriously aroused in 1923 as the result of a jubilee exhibition in Gothenburg attended by 97 car exhibitors.
Quality was of paramount importance to the men who founded Volvo.
This basic concept, which was formulated back in 1926, still applies to Volvo's way of making cars.
