Volvo nuub
Hello
Im from Northern California and I am *this* close to picking up my first ever Volvo it is an 89 240 DL wagon, with 216k on the clock buying from a local volvo mechanic, who is getting a lien sale on it as we speak (someone dropped it off and never paid for it.) it just needed a new timing belt, which he has already changed out apparently as it is now running. (heard it when I went to drop off the deposit to hold it for me.) they are going to put in new brakes all the way around, and hopefully fix a few things before I pick it up. Things I noticed that are wrong currently: torn seat bottom on drivers side front L turn signal burnt out no antenna under dash covers (both the main one and the fuse box cover) 1 rear headrest drivers door lock pull pin broken rear tires almost totally bald interior fabric very dirty sounds like a dream huh? =) they seem to think they can polish this little turdbrick into a shining example of a volvo 240 wagon again, and I have faith thus far that it can happen. ill post pics when I finally pick it up. |
RE: Volvo nuub
Greetings from Yokohama, Japan.
As to the current problems: >torn seat bottom on drivers side Junkyard, on-line vendors or dealer. >front L turn signal burnt out Replace the bulbs, I believe you can do it with a screwdriver. >no antenna Junkyard, on-line vendor or dealer. >under dash covers (both the main one and the fuse box cover) Junkyard, on-line vendor or dealer. >1 rear headrest Junkyard, on-line vendor or dealer. >drivers door lock pull pin broken Junkyard, on-line vendors or dealer. >rear tires almost totally bald Replace asap with correct size of a name-brand. As long as the brand is well-known, the final choice is a personal preference (I personally like Bridgestone & Yokohama). >interior fabric very dirty Try foam-type cleaner, carpet cleaner, etc... Can be found at Wal-mart for less $. Remove seats, if you can for thorough cleaning. Thoroughly cleaning the interior of a car is a good one-day job and requires a number of different cleaners. >they seem to think they can polish this little turdbrick into a shining example of a Volvo 240 wagon again, >and I have faith thus far that it can happen. If the paint finish is severely weathered, the first step is to try rubbing compound, then polish & wax. A power polisher makes the job 10 times easier. Best wishes, JPN |
