Default My first post to this forum

Allow me to introduce myself. Mortrubl is my forum handle. This comes from my second sailboat. After I sank my first one on Lake Erie and was signing the paperwork on my second I thought "Well here comes more trouble" and thus the boat was named. No longer have the boat but kept the name for sentimental reasons.

Living in a suburb on the east side of Cleveland I am a retired Aero Engineer, have an A&P license and am somewhat mechanically adept. With the help of the Mercedes Forum I was able to do all my own work on my '94 E420. I've passed that vehicle on to a friend and am now in the process of purchasing my sixth Volvo, second used one.

I am purchasing a 2008 C70. This is a one owner vehicle that has been meticulously cared for, has 97K miles, full maintenance history, is Magic Blue, has BLIS and the premium package. The timing belt, tensioner and H2O pump were replaced at 89K miles. So far the best Volvo I owned was a 740 Turbo Wagon. Working in Abu Dhabi i was living in Dubai. The daily commute was 75 miles each way and took 55 minutes door to door. Once I was out of Dubai I'd hit the cruise button at 120 and zoomed across the desert. I did this for two years without a hiccup from the car.

I look forward to getting to know fellow forum members and working with the group. I'll be wanting advice and information on various performance upgrade possibilities. I need to learn how to search better, narrower, and more efficiently than I do now.

So again I say hello to everyone, glad to be a new member.

I didn't realize that Volvo would allow the vehicle to cruise at 120 MPH. I would have thought that the cruise would lock out above 90.

As a used dealer, I don't buy the C70 since it has such a poor resale market. The convertible top is very expensive and they seem to fail with regularity. My customers all want sedans or wagons, so naturally I recommend same.

This was a Euro Volvo. Either it did not have the 90 cruise lock out, or if it did I kept the pedal to the metal myself. But it was MPH and not KPH. Had to stay alert to watch out for the stray camel. Other than that it was all out.
